Editorial & Recipe Policy

Mediterranean Menus publishes recipes for home cooks who want practical, credible dishes from the countries and regions around the Mediterranean. This page explains how recipes are researched, written, updated, and corrected.

Recipe approach

Traditional recipes often vary by region and household. When several legitimate versions exist, we aim to present a recognizable version of the dish and explain the approach used rather than claiming there is only one correct recipe.

Measurements and substitutions

Recipes are written primarily for a North American audience, with familiar U.S. measurements and oven temperatures. Metric quantities may be included when useful. Suggested substitutions are chosen to preserve the culinary role of the original ingredient as closely as possible.

Research and cultural context

Background information may draw on regional culinary traditions, cookbooks, producers, cultural institutions, and other credible sources. We avoid presenting broad Mediterranean food traditions as interchangeable and try to identify the relevant country, region, or community when that context matters.

Nutrition information

Calories and other nutrition figures, when provided, are estimates. Actual values can vary with brands, portion sizes, substitutions, and preparation methods. They are not medical or dietary advice.

How we use AI

Mediterranean Menus uses AI tools to help research dishes and draft recipe text. AI-assisted drafts are not published automatically: an editor reviews each recipe before publication, checking ingredients, quantities, timings, temperatures, food-safety notes, titles, descriptions and structured data for accuracy and internal consistency.

Some images on the site are AI-generated illustrations. They show how a dish is typically presented and are not photographs of a recipe cooked by our team. Recipes are published under the Mediterranean Menus byline rather than an individual author name.

Corrections and updates

Recipes may be updated when instructions can be clarified, an ingredient or timing needs correction, or reader feedback reveals a reproducible issue. If you spot a possible error, please use the contact page and include the recipe URL and enough detail for us to review it.

Editorial independence

Advertising and commercial relationships do not determine recipe conclusions, cultural descriptions, corrections, or editorial decisions. See our Advertising & Editorial Independence page for more information.
